Installments, Loans, Scholarships, UpfrontMetis has offered project-focused bootcamps for beginner and experienced data scientists since 2014. Graduates leave the bootcamp with 6-7 projects to add to their digital portfolios, as well as access to a network of alumni and career advisors to help them find a new job.
All classes and bootcamps operate full time and online, although corporate training classes are also offered in person. Metis does not have any campus locations, and online bootcamps currently only accept students living in 33 states.
Individuals new to data science can choose from two-week short immersive courses or six-week beginner bootcamp prep classes. Full Metis coding bootcamps last 6-14 weeks and teach students topics related to data science, data analytics, machine learning, and data engineering.
Metis bootcamps, unlike their short immersive courses, include career support. Graduates can receive help until they find a job and gain access to an alumni network and graduate directory where they can publish their portfolio for employers to see.
Metis Courses
Metis offers four bootcamps, each containing 3-5 modules that cover disciplines such as data analysis and linear regression. Bootcamps and short immersive courses require students to spend seven hours a day in class. Students can access recorded lessons for up to six months after they graduate.
Depending on an individual's knowledge and skill level, they may first opt to enroll in one of Metis' part-time bootcamp prep programs covering introductory data science or beginner Python and math for data science. Prospective bootcamp students can also enroll in the Metis Admissions Prep program for free, which covers basic information related to probability, Python fundamentals, linear algebra, statistics, and calculus.

Data Science and Machine Learning
- Cost: $18,500
- Learning Format: Online
- Time Commitment: Full Time
- Length: 14 weeks
Metis' data science and machine learning bootcamp is broken into seven learning modules with corresponding projects. Projects task students to complete a linear regression problem, solve a classification problem, perform advanced data analysis using SQL and Python, and use deep learning algorithms to solve data science issues. The bootcamp ends with students creating a modularized data processing pipeline.
Deep Learning Fundamentals
- Cost: $3,500
- Learning Format: Online
- Time Commitment: Full Time
- Length: 2 weeks
Students enrolled in this Metis course learn how to solve various data science problems dealing with images, data formats, and text. Students spend the first week learning about neural networks and the second week learning about modeling sequential data. Prerequisites for this course include a basic understanding of Python, pandas, machine learning math, SQL syntax, and web scraping.
Exploratory Data Analysis
- Cost: $3,500
- Learning Format: Online
- Time Commitment: Full Time
- Length: 2 weeks
This two-week online course covers the basics of data analysis and prepares students to complete one project. Students use SQL and Python libraries to practice data analysis. Learners also use pandas and NumPy to manipulate datasets and work in Matplotlib and Seaborn. Incoming students need to have a basic understanding of Python programming techniques and the math involved in machine learning.
Introduction to Data Engineering
- Cost: $3,500
- Learning Format: Online
- Time Commitment: Full Time
- Length: 2 weeks
Online learners design their own data engineering project in this two-week introductory course. Week one begins with an introduction to advanced databases, cloud computing, and big data handling. Week two focuses on advanced programming and web applications. The curriculum prepares students to create a modularized data processing pipeline. Graduates learn to write code, build Python applications, and conduct advanced queries in SQL.
Linear Regression and Web Scraping
- Cost: $3,500
- Learning Format: Online
- Time Commitment: Full Time
- Length: 2 weeks
Students enrolled in this course spend the first week learning how to web scrape to find data. In the second week, students focus on presenting their project and practicing advanced linear regression. Students also cover machine learning terms, how to use Python web scraping libraries, and data handling and preprocessing techniques.
Machine Learning Classification

Metis Admissions Process
Metis bootcamps require incoming students to complete an online application, which takes about 15 minutes. Students need to submit information about their work and educational background. Metis also asks candidates to explain how the bootcamp fits into their career goals. Once the admission committee approves an application, candidates move on to the next phase: a nontechnical interview.
Students who pass the nontechnical interview have up to three hours to complete a technical challenge that tests their knowledge of Python and mathematics, including linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics. Applicants should have programming experience, math knowledge, strong communication skills, and an overall desire to learn.
Students with no experience in math or Python can take one of the part-time bootcamp prep courses. Metis allows students to apply prep course tuition toward bootcamp tuition if they are later accepted into a bootcamp program.
Metis Payment Options
Student payment options differ for short immersive courses and bootcamps. Students taking short immersive courses must pay $3,500 upfront. For Metis bootcamps, students can pay upfront or they can pay via installments or financing plans. Students accepted into a bootcamp must put down a $1,500 deposit within seven days to hold their seat in class. Scholarships are also available for some students.
Installments
Learners can pay their tuition over the course of the bootcamp with an interest-free installment agreement from Metis.
Loans
Metis partners with Skills Fund and Climb Credit to offer a variety of loan options. For example, Skills Fund offers options for students to make payments that begin immediately after starting the bootcamp, pay only the loan interest until three months after the bootcamp ends, or defer repayment entirely until three months after the bootcamp ends.
Scholarships
Metis awards 30 individuals scholarships of $2,000-$3,000 at the start of every bootcamp. Award recipients must be women, military veterans or service members, members of the LGBTQ+ community, or individuals from communities historically underrepresented in tech.
Metis Student Outcomes
Metis coding bootcamps offer extensive career services, including career workshops and personalized meetings with career advisors. Metis continues to help graduates until they find a job. Learners also receive access to the Metis alumni network, which contains more than 1,200 members. Metis bootcamp graduates have found work at many companies, including Amazon, Google, Capital One, and Facebook.
Researching student outcomes, such as graduation rate, employment rate, and starting salaries of graduates, is one way to assess bootcamp effectiveness. Some bootcamps report these numbers on their websites, and some bootcamps have their outcome data vetted by a third-party auditor. Check the Council on Integrity in Results Reporting's website for outcome data on member bootcamps.
Metis does not appear to publish its student outcomes data. If you are unable to find outcome data on a bootcamp's website, you should contact the bootcamp directly to ask about this information.
