Bernard holds a Ph.D. in creative writing and literature from the University of Cincinnati, where they taught creative writing and composition courses for five years. They also hold an MFA in creative writing from Pacific Lutheran University and a BA in film studies and literature from The Evergreen State College. Bernard works as a fiction editor at Tahoma Literary Review.
