  • Zahara Jolie-Pitt became a student at Spelman College in August 2022.
  • More than a year later, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt has joined the nation's oldest Black sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc.
  • Other notable members of Alpha Kappa Alpha include Vice President Kamala Harris and civil rights activist Bernice King.
  • Jolie attended the ceremony with sons Maddox and Pax and wiped away tears as she celebrated her Spelman girl.

Zahara Jolie-Pitt is officially one of the newest members of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc. (AKA) at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.

In a video posted to Instagram by Essence last week, the eldest daughter of actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt stood alongside her new sorority sisters and introduced herself as ...Zahara Marley Jolie. And I landed all the way from the Golden State in the city full of angels: Los Angeles, California.

With her introduction, Jolie-Pitt has joined the sorority's Mu Pi Chapter.

The 18-year-old undergraduate student will be in good company as a member of the nation's first-ever Black sorority. Other notable AKAs include Vice President Kamala Harris; actress and dean of fine arts at Howard University, Phylicia Rashad; civil rights activist Bernice King; and actresses Wanda Sykes and Yvette Nicole Brown.

Alpha Kappa Alpha was founded in 1908 at Howard University and is the oldest established Greek-letter organization for Black women.

Today, it is one of the Divine Nine — the moniker given to the nine historically Black Greek-letter organizations that are members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council.

Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha aim to be of service to all mankind, an objective that Jolie-Pitt is no stranger to. She has often accompanied her mother on humanitarian trips and activist efforts, including most recently joining her in Washington, D.C., for the Senate introduction of the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act.

Jolie-Pitt began her journey at Spelman College in 2022, arriving on campus with her mother for move-in day.

At the time, Jolie proudly shared her excitement about having a Spelman girl in the family.

Jolie additionally attended her daughter's sorority events last week and wiped away tears of pride as Jolie-Pitt wore AKA's signature pink and green.

Jolie-Pitt is only in her second year of college, so there's no telling what she'll do next.
