Nevada belongs to the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). This membership allows students to participate in WICHE’s interstate exchange program, which reduces tuition costs for residents seeking admission to a college or university in another WICHE member state. The exchange program is available for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, and has saved Nevada students millions of dollars since the its founding in 1988.

As the demand for online education grows, Nevada’s System of Higher Education (NSHE) is prepared to meet those expectations. In the latest NSHE report on distance learning, Nevada colleges and universities reported having 63 degrees and 18 certificate programs available entirely online, with plans to add 19 in the near future.

Participation in WICHE programs, such as the interstate student exchange, creates an environment where distance learning is more accessible to students across state lines. An additional incentive for Nevada residents and non-residents to pursue a degree through online colleges in Nevada is WICHE’s Internet Course Exchange, which offers students of a member institution access to online courses and programs from other participating institutions.

Distance learners can select from over 1,000 web-based classes and 25 degrees and certificates through Southern Nevada’s online campus. The school advises students to determine whether they can enter programs at TUN.

For admission into the BS in nursing, applicants need an active RN license and at least 60 hours of transfer credits. The school prefers an associate degree in nursing.
