Melissa A. Venable, Ph.D. is an education advisor and principal writer for BestColleges where she leads a research initiative reporting trends in online education, student demographics, and career planning. Melissa is also an adjunct instructor at Saint Leo University and a certified career coach with experience in career development services. She serves on the editorial boards of eLearn Magazine and the National Career Development Association’s Career Convergence magazine. And as the Board Chair for the Beaufort Digital Corridor, a nonprofit entrepreneur initiative, she supports efforts to increase tech-related employment, business, and training opportunities in her community. Melissa earned her doctorate in instructional technology at the University of South Florida with research interests in distance education and career services for online students.
